Biography
Hey Y’all I’m Krystal and I’m so happy you’re here right now :)
I was born in Puerto Rico, and raised in Boston/Cambridge. Since I was a young girl, I always remember being fascinated about childbirth and even watched birthing videos as a kid. I loved going to the science museum just so I could go to the exhibit and watch the mommas giving birth. When I was 10 years old, I had the beautiful privilege of watching my first live birth when my mom gave birth to my younger brother and then again in my late 20s, I was blessed to witness one of my best friends give birth as well. Both were magical experiences! It was after my best friend's birth where I learned what a doula was and felt the initial call to become one. The pandemic happened and slightly changed my plans, but that desire of serving as a doula came to me again after having my own wonderful experience working with one. Unfortunately, due to my own grieving experience, I was unable to continue working with her in the ways I hoped I would have, but her presence in my life was appreciated more than she will ever know. She was so caring and so inspiring that I found myself wishing that I had the same tools to provide guidance and support for other birthing people who experienced loss, whether it was through miscarriage, abortion or stillbirth.
Throughout my life, I’ve always had a passion for supporting people and providing them with the tools they need to enable themselves to live a happy, healthy and joyous life. For many years, I worked with children and families as a youth worker and educator. I was focused on closing the achievement gap in schools, however, now I feel more passionate about closing the gap in maternal healthcare. While serving as your doula, we will work together to find the resources you need to create a solid foundation and individualized plan to help you feel confident in the transition into parenthood. It is my strong belief that every birthing person regardless of their background should have access to a birthing team that sees them as an individual and listens to their desires for their optimal birth outcome. Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful and sacred rites of passage in life, and I would love to be part of your team guiding you until you meet your baby in the physical.
I am currently certified as a full spectrum doula but am also very passionate about postpartum care, which I believe is a necessity that all women deserve access to. I am currently enrolled in a yearlong advocacy training course to provide better services and care to the birthing community I go on to work with. I'm a lifelong learner and I plan to continue my studies to further my knowledge in maternal health care.
Outside of my role as a doula, I am a plant mom to 100 plants, and I am passionate about cooking, baking, herbs, travel, nature, and holistic health/ healing.
